How to sew lace to the bottom of a skirt: selection of lace, options for finishing the bottom of the skirt

Sew lace ribbon to the skirt

It is not necessary to turn to a professional seamstress to decorate your wardrobe. You can become your own fashion designer. To sew an openwork fabric, you need to arm yourself with the following tools:

  • scissors;
  • needle and thread or pins;
  • sewing machine

Selecting lace

To finish the bottom of the skirt, you can choose an openwork pattern to match the material of the skirt or use contrasting colors . The openwork of one of the colors of the fabric of the item will suit multi-colored fabrics.

Whether to use natural or synthetic lace fabric depends on taste and budget.

The width of the canvas can vary. A thin stripe will make the item more elegant, while a wide stripe can lengthen the hem to the floor.

Important! Lace trim works well on almost all types of fabrics, from silk to denim. The only exception is wool: with it, openwork delights look tacky.

Decorate the bottom of the hem with lace

The general algorithm looks like this

  • We apply the lace to the base to choose how to place the openwork fabric: on top of the main one or under it.
  • We measure and cut off the required amount of lace ribbon, leaving a margin of one centimeter.
  • We apply lace to the pre-finished zigzag or overlock bottom of the skirt and baste it (or pin it together). It is necessary to ensure that the hem is not pulled down!
  • We sew lace along the edge of the pattern using a machine..
  • If necessary, cut off excess fabric. If sewing was used, we process the cut.

Important! It is best to choose a zigzag stitch: it will protect the fabric from “wrinkling”.

Flared skirt decoration

How to decorate a skirt of this type: make a neat tulle lining. The stencil for such a lining is usually taken from a circle skirt. Please note: the length of the diameter of the waist line of the lining and the length of the diameter of the waist line of the main product must be the same. In addition, the lining must be made so that it is five centimeters larger than the skirt. The prepared tulle lining should be evenly attached to the inside of the product. A beautiful tulle bow will add playfulness to the resulting image.

An excellent solution is lace flowers. Here you need to take an outline frame, outline it and cut out the lace shape of the flower with your own hands. Contrasting warm shades are perfect: orange, red, yellow. But it is better to decorate the center in other colors.

Now you need to put together a decorative composition and sew or glue a rhinestone, gold leaf, or beads into the center of the flower. The final stage is the placement of the accessory on the main product. You can decorate the hem of a knitted circle skirt with leather elements (width - from five to seven centimeters). In addition, beads arranged in an orderly manner on its front part (diameter - from six to eight millimeters) are perfect for this type of product.

Most representatives of the fair sex have several skirts in their wardrobe. These products focus attention on the graceful curves of the female figure. Perhaps among your things you can find a couple of similar items of clothing that have lost their presentation, become boring, outdated. Don’t rush to throw them away - try experimenting and decorating your skirt.

Working with lace: useful tips

  • Lace ribbon can “shrink” like any fabric. So that all the work does not go down the drain after a couple of washes, we prepare the fabric in advance . We moisten, dry, iron from the inside out. A steam iron will also work.
  • We select threads depending on the method of arrangement of the part . Should we place the lace detail on top of the hem? The threads should match the color of the trim. Will the fabric lie on top of the lace strip? Then the threads are matched to the color of the dress.
  • Sometimes lace fabric requires handwork . You will have to do without a machine when working with knitwear. The lace with a figured edge is also sewn on by hand.
  • The junction of the trim with the hem can be additionally decorated with sequins and rhinestones, beads and thin braid.

Even a narrow openwork stripe decorating the bottom of your skirt will help it look new.

Secrets of sewing lace

Dresses and blouses decorated with lace look airy and certainly attract the eye. However, sewing openwork lace onto products is not so easy. If you do this work, do it with the utmost care and precision, because the first glance of every person you meet falls on the lace.

By following the advice of experienced craftswomen, you will do this job correctly:

  • Wash the linen because it can shrink and tighten the fabric. To preserve the relief, lay it “face down” on a soft surface and go over it with an iron. You can simply iron it with a steamer.
  • When sewing the decoration simply to the fabric, place it overlapping the edge of the fabric, baste it, and sew it on a zigzag machine. Always match the threads to the tone of the openwork.
  • If you are making lace gathers, then first make them on the lace, then baste them to the product and sew them on a machine with a zigzag seam.
  • You can make folds on the lace ribbon. Choose a base with an alternating pattern, lay out the pleats according to the pattern, baste, and then machine sew.

How to sew lace elements together:

  • Take the base with a reserve, then cut out the design along the contour.
  • Place one piece on top of the other so that the pattern on one piece matches the other.
  • Fasten with needles in different places, baste along the entire contour, and then sew with a zigzag. You can do it manually, since the stitching area will be small.

How to lengthen a dress

The fashion for lace trim lasts for more than one season. If you are tired of a dress, then decorate it with sewing. You can also lengthen the product.

On a note!

To make the finish look especially beautiful, the fabrics must match in color or be contrasting. For a floral dress, choose decorative patterns to match one of the colors of the item's fabric.

You can sew to the hem in two ways:

  1. Openwork fabric is applied over the hem.
  2. The hem is sewn on top of the decor.

The openwork tape is cut with a margin (1-2 cm) to connect the parts. In the first case, lace is placed on the front side of the hem and a basting stitch is laid. A machine stitch is placed along the edge of the pattern.

In the second case, the openwork is applied to the bottom of the hem from the wrong side.

If you need to lengthen the dress, then choose a wide ribbon.

The lace fabric looks beautiful.

Decorating a maxi skirt

So, let's decorate the long skirt. Many fabric decorative elements are suitable: ribbon, lace patterns, chiffon or satin ribbons.

  • The lace pattern is usually used either on the area where the strap would be or on the lower hem of a maxi skirt.
  • A chiffon ribbon or ribbon can play the role of a thin bright belt.
  • How to decorate a white linen maxi skirt: add a large brooch to the look, attached to the right or left side.
  • In addition, a linen circle skirt will look more elegant with lace sewn to the bottom of the product and encircling it.

Sew openwork ribbon to the skirt

You can also adapt the ribbon to the skirt in two ways: on top of the hem and on the wrong side of the fabric.

Contrasting lace looks original.

The algorithm looks like this:

  1. Finish the bottom of the skirt with an overlocker, attach the openwork, and sew it on with a machine.
  2. Cut off the excess and process the cut with a zigzag.
  3. With knitwear it is better to do without a machine. Sew on a ribbon with a figured edge by hand, decorate the junction with the hem with beads, rhinestones, and thin braid.

Open the Circle Skirts

Fold the fabric in half across the warp threads. You should cut by placing the pattern with a diameter on the fold line and securing it with pins. If you did not make hem and waist seam allowances on the pattern, you can apply them directly to the fabric, setting aside the required distance from the paper.

The length of the allowances will depend on the type of seam chosen for processing. It’s better to make the allowances a little larger so that you can adjust the final details if the measurements are inaccurate.

Now you should cut out the skirt, grabbing all the fabric with scissors. As a result, you will get the required circle. We cut it along the fold line of the fabric on one side: the zipper will be sewn in at this point.

The next stage of creating a pattern is trying it on. A mannequin will help you a lot. Place the future skirt on it and let it hang. Since the skirt is cut on the bias, the warp and weft threads of the fabric may be slightly deformed.

The skirt should hang down

Once the skirt has dropped, if necessary, trim the hemline of the skirt with sharp scissors, applying a paper pattern to it.

Sew on figured and straight openwork

When sewing an insert made of straight fabric, baste it face up to the fabric and stitch closer to the edge. Cut out the material from the inside out, tuck the edges and hem with an over-the-edge seam.

On a note!

It is better to sew the figured ribbon by hand. Place it “face” to the fabric, baste along the curly edges with small stitches. Cut the fabric from the inside out and hem the edges.

Decorating clothes with lace

Any clothing can be updated if you decorate it with a piece of openwork. How to sew to shorts:

  1. Cut out a piece of decor, completely preserving the design.
  2. Make a slit or cut a piece of fabric along the side seam of the shorts.
  3. Attach a piece of decor, pin it in different places, and lay a basting stitch.
  4. Iron with a steam iron.
  5. Sew on a machine.

Decorate your blue jeans with white lace yourself. You will not buy such a beautiful thing in any store. In this case, the lace fabric must be placed from the inside out, then stitched along the entire perimeter.

On a note!

You can stitch the trim to the sleeves anywhere: along the bottom of the sleeve, along the shoulders, along the sleeve, in a word, as your imagination dictates. The procedure is the same as for the hem of the dress.

Contrasting trim on the sleeve will update and decorate any dress.

Updating a top or T-shirt with patterned fabric is easy. First, make folds on the lace ribbon, then sew it to the top.

  • The folds can be ordinary, which go in one direction.
  • Counter, when the canvas is folded towards each other.
  • Bow ones. The material is also rolled up on both sides, but only in the opposite direction from each other.

If you fasten together several types of openwork material and sew it to a blouse, the product will take on a more elegant look.

Sewing a circle skirt

It’s better to start work by sewing a belt.

Connect the waistband and lining piece and fold the seam allowances from the two long sides of the waistband to the wrong side, securing the folds with an iron. Fold the waistband lengthwise, right side inward, and secure the fold with pins.

Machine stitch the edges on both sides and then turn the waistband right side out.

Hem the bottom of the skirt using a stitch that matches your fabric. You can, for example, process the edge of a skirt using an overlocker or fold the fabric twice.

Iron the bottom edge of the skirt and begin working on the waistband.

Apply a seam to the skirt piece at a seam allowance distance from the edge of the fabric. It will help you navigate when sewing on the belt. At this point you can sew the back seam, leaving a slit for sewing in the zipper.

Fold the edges of the cut and secure them with a machine stitch.

Sew on the belt

Pin the belt to the top edge of the skirt so that the fabric is located between its halves. Sew the belt to the skirt.

All that remains is to sew a zipper into the skirt, having previously secured it with pins.

Blouse decoration options

You have a blouse that is boring, decorate it with lace! Today, openwork on dresses, blouses, skirts is more in demand than ever.

Sew hard decor on top of the fabric, then your blouse will take on a new look.

On a note!

Using a zigzag stitch, sew the lace elements onto the fabric. Contrasting details look original.

You can also transform a T-shirt. Openwork trim on a T-shirt is fashionable, stylish, modern! The simplest solution is to cut out an element of lace fabric and hand sew it to the T-shirt.

Decoration of a tulip skirt and a year

Monochrome products of this type are best decorated with a neat bow. To decorate a skirt, you need to attach this accessory to your belt with a ribbon made of satin or any other cotton fabric. The same decor option looks great on a straight-cut product with a high waistline. You can consider a more complicated method. You should also use a satin ribbon and make a basting thread on the sides of the skirt, not reaching the edge by about one millimeter. Then you need to tighten the thread, and the ribbon will become wavy, after which you can begin attaching the ruffle to the back of the product (along the seam center line running in the direction of the belt-neckline). Then form an elegant bow from a satin ribbon, placing it at the beginning of the neckline.

The main highlight of the year is its elegant wavy folds. Linen items to be worn in warm weather are usually decorated with special laces that match the color of the skirt. How to do it: place the lace in the form of chaotic curls at the bottom of the product. In addition, here and there you can glue rhinestones of different colors and sizes onto the fabric.

We sew a Tatyanka skirt with lace

Today we are sewing the simplest skirt in a rustic style. The skirt is simple, but looks very cool, especially if you use a little imagination and add a couple of decorative elements.

We will need some cotton material in two colors, of course, at your discretion, in my case it is: gray check and blue.

Color 1 (check): 102 x 16 cm

Color 2 (blue): 102 x 40 cm

Where 102 cm is the width of the product, we arrange it according to the weft, and the length (16 cm and 42 cm), respectively, according to the weft.

We also need 102 cm lace. In my case, the lace was closed, that is, without a seam, so I have 100 cm.

Size for girls height from 104 to 122 , finished skirt length 50 cm.

In this diagram: details, sectional processing diagram. It's okay if you don't understand.

Take the checkered piece and sew over the top and side edges (the seam will be pressed). Options: overlock, simple zigzag, edging - at your discretion.

Sew the side seam, leaving an opening for inserting elastic into the waistband. From the top we grind down 2 cm, then the hole is 2.5 cm and then we grind down to the end of the part. Iron the seam.

We bend the top 5 cm cut to the wrong side and pin it together. Sew 4 cm from the fold. I stitched along the front side of the product to accurately follow the line of the check pattern. This creates a belt where we can put an elastic band. But we won’t put it on now.

Next, we’ll lay another line along the top edge 0.5 cm from the fold (or the width of the foot).

At the next stage, we put aside the checkered part and take the blue one.

And sew down the side seam. I finished the side seams with a double stitch as it is the most practical for cotton fabrics. But this is optional.

I folded the wrong side inside and stitched the width of the foot (0.5 cm).

Next, I trimmed the seam, leaving an allowance of 0.2 cm.

I turned it inside out, straightened the seam and pressed it.

And I stitched 0.5 cm from the edge. The result was a clean seam with closed cuts.

Next you need to process the bottom. We will sew it with a hem seam with a closed cut. To do this, you need to trim the seam on the blue part a little to remove excess thickness at the side seam. We cut the corner.

And we sew the bottom of the product to the width of the foot, tucking the cut inside the seam. It is advisable to first iron the hem and pin it with pins.

Next we will connect the parts. We chop off the yoke piece from the checkered fabric with the main blue piece and grind it down. And we process the seam sections with an overlock or zigzag, or edging.

Next, you need to stitch the allowance on the main part. Since the stitching is finishing, we must lay it along the front side. You should first iron the seam allowance on the main blue piece.

We turn a damaged skirt into an exclusive outfit

How did one side of my favorite skirt fade? It’s not clear, but there’s nothing to do, you need to get down to decorating.

For this I need bleach, preferably “cruel” and liquid. Gloves, a small brush and a fabric marker (bought at an artist store, 100 rubles)

I lay out my skirt in the bathroom and wet it.

I dip the brush in bleach and run it over the faded area. The fabric brightens before our eyes. I try to make the drawing symmetrical.

I'm adding a few more touches. Then you can act arbitrarily. The skirt dried and it became an abstract design. To bring it to mind, I’ll use a fabric marker.

I will draw winding lines along the contour of the dark and light colors.

That's all, now this skirt is exclusive, because this pattern is unique!

Skirts with lace at the bottom - for sophisticated ladies

Any woman wants to look stylish and luxurious, attracting the gaze of the opposite sex. For this task, the image is thought out with special care, a suitable wardrobe, makeup and hairstyle are selected. Every year a skirt with lace at the bottom appears on the catwalks, emphasizing femininity and sophistication. No one will be indifferent to it if you choose the right color, length and style.

Many years ago, only the aristocracy could wear this outfit; it was considered one of the most luxurious and expensive. Lace was especially valued in Ireland due to its exquisite workmanship and attractive appearance.

Lace fabric appeared several centuries ago, while skirts with lace at the hem became common on designer shows a couple of years ago. Illustrative examples of lace skirts are presented in the collections of Paco Rabanne, Christian Dior, Blumarine, Elisabetta Franchi.

Fashionable styles

The creation of a harmonious appearance begins with the selection of a suitable style. Currently, sophistication and romanticism are returning to fashion. Moreover, notes of grace and coquetry are present even in the office wardrobe. A black skirt with lace at the bottom is quite suitable for an office wardrobe. The current style is pencil or trapezoid. Of course, the look should not be oversaturated with auxiliary elements in a business style.

The photo shows a wide variety of styles that beauties demonstrate at a young age. But this does not mean that older women should give up such skirts: by wisely choosing a complete wardrobe, you will be able to create a suitable look.

A popular new item is a lined pencil skirt that reaches to the knee or longer. Moreover, the shades vary, inviting fashionistas to try on white, red, crimson, green, gray and black skirt models. The most versatile option is a pencil skirt with lace at the bottom, demonstrating the individuality and tenderness of its owner. Dense fabric combined with openwork will create the effect of lightness.

If you want minimalism and elegant shades, especially in the summer, use long models. A circle skirt with floor-length lace at the bottom will allow you to embody a boho or romantic style. “Sun” can be floor length, medium length or mini. Particularly popular is the fluffy pattern with a non-standard cut in the shape of an eight-piece. Most couturiers use the patchwork technique, which allows them to form an intricate relief pattern. Models such as “half-sun” and tutus are more suitable for young ladies.

It is appropriate to choose any colors, but in summer blue, coral and snow-white are more popular, and in autumn it is advisable to use wine, brown and green shades. In addition to the “sun” and “half-sun”, ladies choose multi-tiered frills, flared hems and classic styles with a side slit. The larger the hem, the more transparency is acceptable.

Packing Variations

Stylists offer many options for what to wear with a long black skirt, based on the occasion for which the beautiful lady is wearing such an interesting piece of clothing.

It’s worth mentioning right away that this black cut is intended for daytime wear or a formal occasion. But it is not suitable for cocktail parties. In addition, to create the right color scheme for an image, stylists recommend combining black with a white, beige palette, pastel colors, bright prints or flowers.

Fluffy skirts made from natural fabrics or with a slight addition of artificial threads are suitable for everyday wear. They are combined depending on what kind of image needs to be created.

For Smart-Casual, the combination of a “bell” with a tight-fitting pastel or white shirt is relevant. In this case, shoes are chosen with low heels or flat soles (an exception is made only for women of short stature). To complement the look, you can throw on a fitted jacket, several tones different from the tone of the top of the duo. A postwoman or satchel, as well as fedora or slouch hats, will help complete the look.

For summer, a loose sun or pleated skirt, a skirt with a standard waistline, is suitable. Depending on the season, you can combine it with many things. Combinations with tight-fitting T-shirts, loose T-shirts and tops are popular. Shoes should be chosen with flat soles - sandals, ballet flats or T-shirts in neutral tones.

For the off-season, a thin sweater or turtleneck, complemented by a cropped jacket or short coat, is suitable. It is worth noting that the skirt itself can be made from airy fabrics, for example, chiffon, and the wardrobe items that complement it can be made from thick fabrics. It is recommended to complete your look with flat boots.

Those ladies who prefer flared styles can choose a set in a romantic direction. To do this, a black skirt of the length in question is complemented with a white blouse or tunic with an asymmetrical cut, a jacket with accentuated shoulders and high-heeled shoes or sandals.

We suggest you familiarize yourself with How to sew a chiffon skirt

The combination of a skirt with denim or flannel is relevant. The image in this case is created within the framework of the street direction and ends with boots with rough, almost “tractor” soles, a fedora and a backpack or bag worn over the shoulder.

In a sporty style, a flared model or a small one is chosen. It is complemented by a long sleeve, a denim jacket, T-shirts or sneakers and a backpack. Black color in this case is combined with white and blue colors.

In winter, stylists recommend surrounding a black floor-length skirt with a wool sweater or cashmere turtleneck, a short fur coat or a fur vest in natural colors. In this case, it is better to choose shoes with low heels or elegant wedges - these can be boots or ankle boots that match the top item of the duo. And the look should be completed with a black slouch and a leather shoulder strap.

As for evening outings, in this case the ideal option is a semi-fitting floor-length skirt, made of iridescent silk, satin, panne velvet or. So, to create a strict look, it is enough to complement a black year with a white or cream blouse with “Bishop” sleeves and classic sleeves.

Among the accessories, preference should be given only to strings of pearls and earrings to match it, and take a miniature one in your hands. If a more relaxed dress code is envisaged, then a floor-length black “semi-sun” is complemented by light, pastel colors or shades of a bustier skirt, crop top or blouse with an asymmetrical cut to the shoulder line. In this case, accessories must be chosen carefully: pendants, beads and earrings must take a vertical shape, continuing the theme of the length of the skirt. And shoes must be in a nude shade.

Things get boring over time, seem too simple or out of date. It’s a shame to throw them away, but not every woman knows how to decorate a skirt with her own hands. But there are many ideas to make a boring thing original and creative.

Knowing how to decorate a skirt, you can revive the thing and give it originality

Styles and materials

Which style is more appropriate for your figure? For a lady with curvy hips, a trapezoidal shape and a half-sun shape are more suitable. For plus size girls, stylists also recommend floor-length models with a semi-fitting silhouette. If your figure is slim, you should pay attention to short models. Just keep in mind that miniskirts are popular at proms, holiday parties and other special events. The optimal style for most women is medium length and dark shades.

If we talk about materials, in the off-season the most popular models are jeans in a classic blue shade. White denim complemented with contrasting inserts looks elegant and bright. In the summer, products made from chintz, silk, viscose, linen and cotton are more relevant. In combination with lace, skirts look especially attractive.

Do you want romance and lightness, but the weather does not allow you to wear light clothes? Then wear a black model made of synthetic material or wool. A girl will look luxurious and sexy in a leather skirt. At the same time, openwork inserts can be present not only on the main canvas, but also wedged in with unusual squares and triangles.

How to make a pattern for a half-sun skirt

To create a pattern for a semi-sun skirt you will need only 2 measurements:

  • length of the product;
  • waist circumference (if you plan to sew a skirt with a belt) or hip circumference (if you plan to sew a skirt with an elastic band).

Important! The appearance of the finished product depends 90% on the correctness of taking measurements and the accuracy of calculations when constructing a pattern. Therefore, it is worth taking this seemingly simple process with all seriousness.

The main mistake many novice seamstresses make is neglecting the installation belts when taking measurements. Of course, it’s good when the figure is close to ideal and has clearly defined waist, hips and chest lines. However, in reality this is more an exception to the rule than a pattern, and the waist is not always the narrowest place on the body. This feature is especially visible among owners of:

  • protruding bellies;
  • shapes such as “apple” or “rectangle”;

If you want the finished product to fit perfectly on your figure, be sure to use the installation belt when taking measurements.

Procedure for taking measurements:

  1. Tie a thin, non-elastic band around the waist, strictly parallel to the floor surface.
  2. Measure the distance from the installation belt to the planned length of the skirt.
  3. Measure your waist circumference where the braid is located.
  4. Measure the volume of the hips at the most protruding points of the buttocks and thighs.

Record the received data in this way:

  • DI – skirt length;
  • OT – waist circumference;
  • AB – hip circumference.

To create a pattern you will need to make basic mathematical calculations:

  • Divide the waist and hip measurements in half. No arithmetic manipulations should be performed with measuring the length of the product.
  • Calculate the depth of the notch (the distance from the top of the corner to the waist line) using the formula.

The formula is as follows:

SWEAT - ½ waist circumference;

2 number of pattern pieces;

2 cm – increase for loose fit;

Then you can start making the pattern:

  • Construct a right angle and mark its vertex with point K.
  • From t A, set aside the distance obtained as a result of calculations in both directions. Label the resulting points P and P1.
  • Connect points P and P1 with a radius arc. For this purpose, you can use a compass with a large solution or regular braid with a pencil tied to it.
  • From t Pi P1, set aside a measure on both sides equal to the length of the future skirt DI.
  • Connect the resulting points with a radius arc. Please note that when drawing the lower radius (bottom of the skirt), the center should be t K, and not the upper arc (waist line).

At this point, the process of making a half-sun skirt pattern is considered complete, all that remains is to check the correctness of the construction. To do this, you need to measure the waist line on the drawing with a centimeter tape; it should be equal to half the waist circumference + 1 cm. Deviations of a few millimeters in any direction are quite acceptable, but if the deviation is much more significant, it is worth reviewing all calculations and construction stages.

How and with what to wear?

A skirt with an openwork part at the bottom will become a faithful companion for girls both in business and formal, as well as in everyday style, if you choose the style wisely and complement it with a suitable jacket. There are several nuances in this case: you can play on the contrast of fabrics or create a monochrome look, each element of which smoothly transitions into the other, and is complemented by the necessary accessories. If you want to play with contrasts, then you should choose coarse fabrics - drape, linen, leather, complemented by light translucent lace. If you want to create a complete look, choose a guipure blouse, pumps and a silk or satin skirt.

What to wear with a skirt with openwork elements is the main question that many girls face, doubting the correct answer. To create a harmonious and beautiful image, you should be very careful when choosing both the basic element of clothing and accessories.

Summer look : White or pastel medium or mini skirt, T-shirt or blouse made of thin fabric, heeled sandals and exquisite jewelry. A clutch or neat handbag will complement the picture. A sun skirt looks elegant with a tight-fitting T-shirt or blouse.

Autumn look : A medium-length semi-fitted skirt with a leather jacket, black tights and ankle boots looks elegant. A jacket or jacket instead of a jacket is a good option, but they must be made of dense and plain material.

Tulle skirt decoration

Of course, products made from this material are beautiful as is, but in order to update the item and take care of its presentability, it is best to use some decorative elements.

So, how to decorate a tulle skirt? There are many options: gold coins, satin ribbons, buttons, beads and other interesting accessories.

For example, you can attach an elegant small bow to the right or left, or sew small rhinestones onto the entire product - like falling snow or shining stars.

If we talk about sparkles and gold flecks, they can even be used to form pictures (the same Christmas trees for a New Year's look or pumpkins for Halloween).

Don’t be afraid to try something new - the end result is often interesting, inimitable, unique images that only you can boast of. Graceful tulle skirts are still a trend. Long or mini, plain or printed - any fashionista can decorate a skirt by creating her own original design.

Embroidery

If you have embroidery skills, try embroidering your favorite motif on the skirt. Of course, it will be easiest to embroider on fabrics that are fairly dense and have minimal stretch, but with the proper skill you can also embroider on knitwear. It will be most convenient to transfer the motif onto fabric using colored copy paper:

Having decided on the color scheme, choose suitable threads, for example, from the DMC floss range.

If you like embroidery, but you don’t know this art, you can use factory embroidered iron-on stickers.

Ways to update skirts

Lace update for skirt

Lace is an evergreen detail in any wardrobe item. It certainly adds femininity and mystery to any look, and also helps to successfully play with color combinations and looks great with a variety of things.

This part will need to be sewn to the skirt using a sewing machine. If the lace fabric is delicate, it is better to make frills.

Lace can be used in many ways. You can choose a simple but elegant one - put it on the bottom of the skirt, or you can layer it, getting an interesting new pattern.

Lace has another useful property: it can be used to lengthen products. This is a real find if the skirt seems too short and provocative to you.

Black skirt update

Every self-respecting woman should have a classic black skirt. It is an indispensable part of your wardrobe, even if your working conditions are far from the office.

However, perhaps you have accumulated an indecently large number of such skirts, which is simply impractical, and your closet is far from “rubber”. In this case, an excellent solution to the problem would be to update one of your skirts, giving it freshness and brightness.

If your skirt is not devoid of pomp, flowers made of multi-colored lace will be an excellent decoration for it.

Print out the stencils and use them to cut out the base of the flower from the lace. It is worth noting that lace in catchy colors is perfect for this.

The core of the flower, of course, must be cut from a different color, and it must be smaller in size than the base. Then sew the main piece to the core, adding a cute bead.

Make several of these flowers and sew them to the skirt. Voila! A new and original thing is right in front of you.

Updating the skirt with braid

Buy several types of braid that you like. Then decide on the location of the ribbon. You can come up with a print in person or get ideas on the Internet.

When you decide on the pattern, feel free to sew the braid to the product. So quickly and easily you can get a bright and interesting skirt.

Straight skirt update

To decorate a straight skirt, the following things can be an excellent solution:

  • large buttons;
